Abstract

One of the main reasons for intellectual discussions of the 21-st century is based on the research of
conceptual interrelations between the two notions AUTHORITY and KNOWLEDGE. The promisingand
groundbreaking researches by Michel Foucault deserve a special attention and topicality. The main ideas of the
French scholar are an integral part of the multicultural project(complex interdisciplinary project) that has leading
positions in the USA and Europe academic field. The studied intellectual phenomenon embodies a modern culture
significant factor and encourages the active investigation of cultural canon.
The current article focuses on the concept analysis "authority-knowledge" which is studied within the
discourse theory. A linguistic approach pays a special attention to the comparative analysis of the researched
scientific notions on the basis of the selected Michel Foucault and Paul Bourdier works. In addition, a
differentiative analysis of the main conceptual statements is carried out in the current authors' studies
