Abstract

The article examines the images of Elizabeth of England and Mary Stuart in selected fiction literature and
films. The imagology of the cinematic incarnation of images of two Queens is compared The Catholic symbolism
associated with the historical facts is analyzed. Linguistic facts of the language Scots are involved. The Romance,
English, Gaelic influences to the formation of a cultural worldview of mentioned leaders are researched. The role
of patronage of art and literature is emphasized. The given lyrical texts which are at first translated into
Ukrainian (Scottish poets of the twentieth century) have practical value. These translations are used for
illustrative material and compared to the originals, that light up the images of the two Queens. Involved The
selected lyrics of Elizabeth Tudor, at first translated into Ukrainian, is involved, and these poems are compared to
the sonnets of Mary Stuart. The attention is paid to the new evidences of the modern Scottish archivists etc.
