Abstract

The controversy between A. Makarenko and the critic F. Levin about the story “Flags on the Towers” is analysed in the present article. The author disproves negative appraisal of the critic’s position which has been formed in the soviet study of literature. And proves that the story witten according to the canons of the socialist realism was the writer’s creative failure.
