Abstract

The article is devoted to one of the most distinctive peculiarities of Makarenko-writer’s creative style - the art
of humor. This art was most clearly manifested in his best literary work “The Pedagogical Poem”. Many
researchers have handled this issue but its simplified interpretation has been outlined. The authors of the present
article view the art of humor in “The Pedagogical Poem” in the light of the carnival laughter theory by
M. M. Bakhtin. It allows them to give broader idea of the writer’s talent and the function of humor in his novel.
