Matkovska I. V. On the problems of translation of texts with elements of black vernacular (based on Z. N. Hurston`s novel “Mules and men”)

Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of peculiarities of black vernacular. The author demonstrates
them on the pattern of Z. Hurston`s novel “Mules and Men”. The problem of adequate translation
into Ukrainian is discussed in the article. The three variants of translation of the extract (standard
Ukrainian, south-western Ukrainian dialect and south-eastern Ukrainian dialect show the possible
variants of dialect-to-dialect translation.
