Abstract

The article is devoted to the life journey and legacy of the outstanding poet of the sixties Stanislav Shumytskyi.
Though he left this world tragically and too early, he still lives in his poetry and the memories of his compatriots
as a courageous innovator with the highest sensibility to current concerns and the ability to notice and reflect the
exigencies of a human nature focusing his efforts on solving complicated philosophical, aesthetical and moral
issues. It is argued that the poetry of this literary artist deserves more attention of the scholars. Moreover, there is
an attempt to distinguish ideological and aesthetical features common for the poets of the sixties from the Kharkiv
region of Slobozhanshchyna that can be regarded as canonical for them. It is concluded that the best literary
works as well as the name of the poet will surely find their place of honor among the nonconformists of the sixties
not only from the Kharkiv region.
