The article highlights the process of coining compound words in Modern English due to specific semantic
condensation of hybrid verbal-substantive or attributive-substantive word groups. A word group loses its syntactic
peculiarities by blending into a compound word. Thus, making up compounds mirrors common trends to
"condensation", to the economy of syntagmatic means.
