Zakharchuk N. V. Functional peculiarities of performative verbs in speech acts (on example of the English language)

Abstract

The article presents a brief analysis of speech acts and performative verbs as linguistic expressions of action.
It gives different classifications of performative verbs basing on pragmatics and semantics of the verbs themselves.
Due to the studies of speech acts the author suggests the classification of English performative verbs by the degree
of changes they make in the process of communication.
