Abstract

The article is devoted to description category of «speech event» in the political discourse of mass media of
Ukraine. The author proposes classification for this phenomenon. Attention focuses on meaningful classification
parameter. During the analysis the author comes to the conclusion that speech events are represented by focal
speech event and background speech event in the political discourse of mass media of Ukraine.
