Gerasimenko I. Сomposites with colour nomination in the Russian folklore language

Abstract

The article is devoted to structural-semantic and functional features of composite words with colour
nomination in the Russian folklore language. The analysis of the research material proves that composite colour
terms reveal not only the idea of colour, as a result of folklore words diffuzziness. These verbal signs transmit
information which is connected with conceptualization of the ancient world and society; reflect the ethnic
mentality, historical and cultural experience of people. The obtained results are the impulse for the investigation
of different colour terms groups which semantics is complicated by folklore symbols and relict ritual beliefs.
