Abstract

The article analyses English idioms of mythological content. It focuses on the direct connection of their
semantics to the history and sources of their origin with the reference to the religious cults of ancient Celts and
Germans, the mythology of Ancient Greece and Rome, followed by the period of Christianity expansion.
