The article deals with the analysis of different types of elliptical constructions in the interview texts
of the British newspaper “The Guardian”. Elliptical components are classified according to their
position in the sentence and the quantitative criteria. Their frequency is also analised depending on the
type of ellipsisf. The author provides a comparative analysis and clearly distinguishes between the
investigated language notions and focuses on the peculiarities of the elliptical structures usage as one of
the important ways of language economy realization in the English-language newspaper discourse. The
objective of the article is to investigate the notion of ellipsis as well as different ways of its realization and
its role in the newspaper style of the English language. The conclusion is that initial one-part elliptical
constructions dominate in quantity if compared to other types
