Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of the use of naturalistic works by Vynnychenko so-called «ugly
aesthetics», which helped the author in his own way to represent certain aspects of human life, social and
personal flaws and imperfections for the purpose of shocking a recipient. The writer was able to show that the«
ugly» people have a right to exist in this world, especially their spiritual and moral characteristics are often
higher, worthy, better than of those seemingly «beautiful». He proved that the true artist does not have to draw
the line between beautiful and ugly, aesthetic and unaesthetic. The above categories should not be an end in itself,
but only serve a higher purpose, which perhaps is to achieve harmony. Using «aesthetics of ugliness» Vynnycenko
reached significant results in terms of likelihood and circumstances zhyttyevidpovidnosti depiction of human
existence and behaved like a true scientist-experimenter
