Abstract

The present paper gives a short review on native and foreign strategies and tactics studies of presidential
discourse. Basic notions of speech strategies and tactics in terms of modern communicative discourse paradigm
were considered. Main strategies and tactics of presidential discourse were considered using Barack Obama 2007
and 2012 public speeches. Agitational strategy together with tactics of promise and appeal was analyzed.
Distinctive features of promise tactics were considered. The relation between main concept of Barack Obama
discourse and appeal tactics was found.
