Abstract

The article highlights the issue of military texts classification in the context of special translation theories
development where the military translation serves as a separate theory. The overview of classifications of types
and military texts has been conducted. The main criteria have been defined to divide military texts into militarypolitical, military-technical and military-specific. This classification makes it possible to define the strategy of
military translation, select the translation method and techniques, assess and edit the target text in order to
achieve the functional identity as the basis of all translation transformations
