Abstract

The article deals with the Serhiy Yefremov`s views toward one of the most brutal totalitarian regime in the
human history – “red gendarmes” regime, which was intended to transform society into demoralized crowd,
cultivated class hatred. It destroyed intelligence, deprived the whole nation, its history, culture, and human
dignity. The description of publicist`s attitude to the Bolshevik ideology and state, general psychological portrait
of the representatives of communist regime, which principal features were militant ignorance, cruelty and
rejection of Christian spiritual values, is based on S.Yefremov`s diary materials. The attention is drew to the facts,
which have been fixed in the diaries, concerning Bolshevism crimes against members of the national elite,
eradication of moral laws, planting intolerance, encouraging spy, denunciations, killings of ideological
opponents, destroying the Ukrainian peasantry.
