Abstract

The article presents complex methodological framework applied in female image research. Being a treasury of
images, song folklore stores patterns, which enable their proper understanding. A folk song bears linguistic
characteristics, which facilitate the mechanism of communication and data interpretation. Means of stylistic semasiology
help visualise and reproduce image description; syntactic means emphasise, highlight or intensify either the image
or its background. Means of stylistic phonetics help perceive information before its detailed analysis and give a
comprehensive account of interconnection of words and feelings, which develop sensory perception of images. The
overviewed methods of investigation illustrate specific aspects of each means and its functions in creating female
images in American folk songs. Considering the fact that a folk song is accompanied by music and mainly based
on a historical or cultural event, semantic analysis of a song text comes with musical aspects and vertical context
in synergy. The described methodology offers a powerful tool in relevant interpreting images in folk songs
