Abstract

The article dwells on the structural, lexical and prosodic peculiarities of the English television football eventsrelated commentary as one of the pragmatic types of the sports commentary – the core genre of the television
sports discourse. The focus of research is also placed on the prosodic features of commenting on such key
moments of a football match as a save, goal moments, and missed goals.
