Nominative one member sentences in the language of the printed mass media: functional, communicative, and semantic aspects JF - Philological Treatises JA - PT VL - 9 IS - 3 SE - Articles DO - UR - https://tractatus.sumdu.edu.ua/index.php/journal/article/view/187 SP - 23-29 AB -
The points of view of scientists on the correlation between the logical-syntactic types of semantics, the ways of
expressing the predicativity and communicative nature of nominative sentences are systematized in this article. It
is proved that nominative sentences with semantics of objective reality, which main part is expressed by a noun,
substantiated words, or quantified word combinations, have formally-grammatical and structural-semantic
features of a one member sentence and, according to the logical-psychological structure of the expression, are
two-membered, where the subject and the predicate are syncretically represented by one main member; the
presence of determinant extended members, which explains the existential significance of the main member, does
not change the general communicative sentence scheme but determines the specificity of its topic-rhetorical
division. Communicative-pragmatic functions of nominative sentences in the texts of the printed mass media are
conditioned by the specifics of the contextual realization of the semantics of objective reality, expressive
evaluation modality, predicativity and by the communicative intentions of the speaker.
ER -
