Abstract

The article deals with the evaluation category, its specificity in the semantics of metaphor,
the definition of the notion metaphor, the status of substantive metaphors, as well as with pragmatic
specifics of metaphors in the speech. Metaphor is one of the main means, which are used to create the
imagery, expressiveness, evaluation and to reveal author's individually evaluated attitude to
the subject of thought.
