Abstract

Language negation applies to complex linguistic universals. It permeates the entire lexis and grammar, uses
different means and ways of expression, complex semantic and structural character that needs careful study. The
article examines the peculiarities of linguistic means of negation expression at different language levels within the
artistic discourse. The purpose of this research is comprehending the taxonomy of linguistic means of negation in
English and German, description and analysis of semantic, pragmatic and stylistic features of negation structures
within the artistic discourse. The results of this study show that the linguistic category of negation has great
potential - speech means of negation may be complicated by the different modal values and stylistically modified
up to affirmative statements that may be the prospect analysis
