Abstract

The research focuses on lexical, grammatical, morphemic and syntactic markers of category Negation.
Negation as an interlingua discipline, is closely connected with philosophy, logics, psychology. The totality of
paper is objectified by the raise problem. The modi of language, speech and speech behaviour motivate the
research of dichotomy of polar phenomena – yes :: no; present :: absent; good :: bad. The verbal and non-verbal
markers of negation are being analyzed explicitly and implicitly. The empiric data prove that mononegation is
preferable in the English language. Mononegation is the major tendency of the modern English language.
Ontology of the English relevant metasigns is being sought after. The article deals with negation as a semantic
and pragmatic category, which is considered to be universal and peculiar in every language at that. The
