Balabin, V. Military Interpreter’s Service Functions and Tasks

  • One of the tasks of the theory of military translation as a special theory of translation studies is the delineation
and subsequent description of the military interpreter’s service functions and jobs. This mission should be done to
further define and enhance the requirements for his/her competence, educational and professional qualifications,
education results, and to eventually develop and improve military interpreter’s professional standards. The author
analyzes the military interpreter’s main and auxiliary service functions and tasks in the system of linguistic support
for forces, the core of which constitutes the mission of translating and interpreting for the military.
